4 Things You Must Do When in New York

New York is called the city of lights. I did not believe this statement until I visited there last summer.  I love traveling, and I have visited many cities in the US, but I was very skeptical about New York. Being a metropolitan city, I thought that life here would be very different, but after going there, I haven’t had any regrets.

The city is full of breathtaking views, enough to make your Instagram followers jealous by posting aesthetic stories and pictures.

But with so much to explore, don’t you want to stay connected during your trip? Capture the moments and share your experiences?

If yes, then it’s a wise option to look for a reliable ISP while you are planning your trip. Whether you are navigating the subway or searching for spots to grab some food, having a good internet connection makes everything smooth.

A friend of mine once recommended subscribing to Spectrum Internet since it offers nationwide free hotspot services. This helped me a lot while I was exploring NYC. If you ever face a connectivity issue while traveling, always feel free to reach out to Spectrum customer service for help. They are known for offering quick support and ensuring that you stay connected while traveling.

However, keeping in mind my travel experience to NYC, in this article, I have mentioned some of the best places that you should visit whenever you go to New York with your friends and family.

Visit the Statue of Liberty

I’ve never met anyone who went to New York and didn’t visit the Statue of Liberty.

 I always used to wonder:

What’s so special about it?

I mean, it’s just a lady holding a torch in her right hand and a tablet in her left hand.

So, like, why are people so excited to go there?

Questions like these used to appear in my mind until I visited it last summer, and then I came to understand its importance.

The Statue of Liberty is located on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, surrounded by the waters of Jersey City. People tend to visit it for many reasons, like:

  • Historical Importance: It was gifted by France to the US in 1886 as a token of friendship between the two nations on the US Independence Day.
  • Unreal Architecture: It is so hard to believe how people in the 19th Century made it without the help of any modern machinery and tools. For people who are interested in architecture, art, and innovation, this is a must-visit place for them.
  • Breathtaking View: Visitors can experience a breathtaking view of the Manhattan skyline, Ellis Island, and New Jersey, allowing them to capture photographs.

Visit Central Park

Central Park is located in Manhattan, New York City. It was built in the 1850s, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. The Park consists of wide fields, lakes, and the famous Bow Bridge.

It was made for a reason, away from the city, so people could chill here with their loved ones, exercise, and enjoy nature.

The Park is featured in many Hollywood movies like Home Alone 2, When Harry Met Sally, and The Avengers. After watching these movies, a curiosity was driven inside me to visit this park and to see places like the iconic Strawberry Fields, the Belvedere Castle, and The Pond.

Apart from this, the park is full of entertainment throughout the year, like:

  • In winter, you could go there and do ice skating at the Wolman rink.
  • In the spring season, you could witness the vibrant colors in the park and see cherry blossoms and tulips bloom.
  • In summer, people often go there to listen to live music. While some go boating on the lake.
  • In the fall season, the park is covered with golden and red leaves. People often visit the park to chill and capture some aesthetic photos.

Visit Times Square

Times Square is located in the Midtown of Manhattan, New York City.

People often say New York never sleeps, and I agree with this statement when I visited Times Square at night. It was a whole different vibe there, witnessing big billboards, fancy lights, and meeting people from different cultures. It was totally a different experience.

Apart from these things, there are many other activities that you could enjoy doing at Times Square, for example:

  • Take a picture on the famous red steps. Also known as the heart of Times Square. After climbing to its top, you could see the flashing boards and crowd. It’s always a good idea to take a picture here to make your trip memorable.
  • If you love reading books and theater plays, this place should be your must-visit, as it has served as an important resource for plays, scripts, and theatrical works.
  • If you are going to Times Square with your family, you should visit M&M’s World. It offers a wide range of goodies, personalized apparel, and chocolates.
  • Get the famous tacos at Los Tacos No.1. They offer the best tacos in Times Square, which aims to serve authentic Mexican flavor.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located in New York City near Central Park. It is important for several reasons: its collection consists of 5,000 years of global artwork, it is a major cultural and tourist attraction, and it aims to connect people through its art and history.

It is one of the world’s largest and most visited art museums, and it serves as a source of education, a hub of artistic innovation, and a symbol of human creativity.

The museum consists of numerous paintings, each of which depicts a different story and art. For example:

  • The famous Van Gogh’s Straw Hat portrait.  During his life, he had painted over 20 self-portraits because he could not afford a model.  So, he used a mirror instead and painted his portraits.
  • Washington Crossing the Delaware holds a history in its painting of the night when General Washington and the Continental Army crossed the river during a war.
  • The famous Italian artist Caravaggio’s painting The Denial of Saint Peter is also there. The art purely depicts symbolism. Three fingers are pointing at Peter, which depicts that he betrayed Jesus three times.

These are some of the top 4 places that you must visit whenever you get a chance to visit New York City. Each place offers a unique atmosphere and vibe that will elevate your travel experience in the city.
